Amazing experience at the Oklahoma CareerTech statewide conference. 3500 teachers, counselors, and admins, all in one auditorium — and 1800 of them were late. (Or should I say "tardy"?) So I jumped off stage and did my best Phil Donahue, interviewing the audience until the rest of the crowd got seated. Then I went back on stage and did a Reader's Digest condensed version of what I had planned — interspersed with jokes about how little time I had left to do what I had planned. It was actually a lot of fun and worked out surprisingly well. The accident is often better than the plan.
